About Enigma@Home - I know from his admin that he is make some serious changes to daemons in project which is reason for this pause in work unit generation.

So far he not very communicative about it. There's only mentioning of server maintenance on the 18th.

And about uncommunicative BOINC project admins: You don't answer the forum on Radioactive@Home either. The validator doesn't do a thing over there.

And that was concerning server maintenance in 2013....

Gentlemen,

First I want you to know that I do appreciate the effort required to run a project.

But, please consider what people are seeing from BOINC@Poland:

1. Enigma grinds to a halt without any communication.
2. Radioactive was vibrant but now looks like going the way of QCN: no support, no communication and no-one to keep the thing running. Not to mention the disastrous kits. No OS X support.
3. DrugDiscovery@Home. Running one day. Completely dead the next. Lots of "he said this, she said that" on the forum, users left high and dry. No OS X support.
4. Goofyxgrid. Warning of project transition in 1-2 weeks. Work generation stops immediately. No response on that. OS X support ceased.
5. Universe runs WUs for a short time then that application is never seen again. Work runs out constantly. No OS X support.

We need consistency and communication. Consider PrimeGrid which is the gold standard for BOINC. Regular, active communication from admins. Minimum 30 day notice if a subproject is going to end AND that schedule is rigidly adhered to. Work is almost always available for all subprojects.

Please, if you get this GCC running, please, please, please be more like PrimeGrid and remember that credits and badges aren't the only things that people are chasing and for some, that's not even a consideration. Consistency and communication is the glue that keeps it all working.

Thank you.

Firstly yes, Goofyx will move project to GCC (http://gridcomputingcenter.org/).
Secondary - yes, it is still BOINC :)

I think they try to build a commercial company where scientists have to pay for setting up a Boinc project.
On other projects i see scientists, students and maybe professors... but here we have managers and CEO's and contracts... that are terms of commercial company's.
However... commercial company's need clients, without communication you will not get many of them. ;-)

Charging money to set up and administer projects is one thing. Charging people for our resources is altogether something I want no part of.

The difficulty is knowing what is going on.

MindModeling@Home (Beta) is based in Dayton, Ohio at the University of Dayton Research Institute and Wright State University. It has nothing to do with the projects that are supported by/through BOINC@Poland and that are to be incorporated in GCC.
I tested tonight and could both login and post on their (MindModeling) forum.

The good news about this transition-to-be is that at least Radioactive@Home and Universe@Home are running alright now, and that the Universe@Home forum does its best to keep the volunteers informed.
As it is run by the same krzyszp that also takes the honours here when Goofyx is not around, we're glad to see that efforts are being made to get things going.

In next 1-2 weeks there will be a big change in GoofyxGrid@home because of merging with GCC (Grid Computing Center).
GoofyxGrid@home will finish acctual existens and will appear as sub-project in GCC.

More info soon...

One week later....

All WU generation stopped immediately
No info yet
Zero response from Admin

Question: Does this (A) motivate us to run across to GCC and commit our resources on whatever appears there OR (B) make us forget about GCC because we can just expect the same lack of communication.

Universe@home is not part of the transition as it is run by a unversity.

BOINC@Poland projects Radioactive, Goofyxgrid and Drug Discovery were part of it but I don't know now about Drug Discovery it maybe a dead project due to some politics involved in it's running.

hello,

I was just visiting the website of the "grid computing center". It looks nice but in contains no useable information for me. It is just show us some people who work for this grid computing center. After reading this thread on this board, I fear that it will lead to the same status which, really unfortunately, radioactive@home got.

Please give as a short information when the project is online again. You mentioned a period of 1-2 weeks, thats clearly OK. I think due to the lack of information on A this board, B on the website of grid computer center and C missing infos in the BOINC client itself you probably loose a lot of support.

I really agree with the post from Steve Hawker* from 15th of April.

Please give us more information.

Thanks You.

You guys do understand not only is B.O.I.N.C. volunteer computing by the project crunchers , it is typically 99% volunteer project #1 hosting #2 administering #3 supporting along with 80% of the projects being ran by a cruncher whom got an idea for a project and half are ran off cable@home. Usually these admin's are students at a university and that is where they got the exposure to B.O.I.N.C. and decided to setup a side project volunteering their time and resources just like us crunchers. They typically have not only jobs but significant others and possibly offspring if not pets! Some are students at the university of the head project they admin if any. Then you get time for hobbies , such as running a project at home or maybe their University colo's it or they got a cheap vps , all out of pocket themselves. Most B.O.I.N.C. users do not get paid for their resources unless your are crunching a whitelisted project collecting Gridcoin and this is not one of those projects so nobody is losing anything. Most these admins do not get paid or they get donations but usually those are slim and its really hard for them to justify the time users demand , even seti.

The issue was they are no longer supporting IE.

You guys do understand.... yada yada .

You do realize that people are free to express their opinion just as you did?

Should we let poor admin go by without comment? Volunteer admin or not, they're getting something from us and all we demand is consistency and communication. It doesn't take more than a minute to give a very brief update.

Some people spend thousands for this hobby. Are you demanding they STFU?

Steve yep , seems you understand... we can express ourselves as immature and or asinine as you wish. The admin has the right to comment or not too. It's their project YOU volunteer to help THEM not the other way around.

I have a large boinc cluster and spent $1200 on my 1 desktop alone do not get my started on my HP blades and other systems , again if you wish to bitch join a project that pays out gridcoin and join the team and get paid so yes they should STFU and so should you whiny lil bitch antics are not going to get you anywhere. I don't bitch and have 105 CPU and 8 GPU cores crunching WU 24/7 kid so maybe learn how to post as a mature adult and go buy a box of Kleenex. You choose to crunch the projects that you sign up for , the admin didn't force you.

You are ignorant , you sound like a homeless guy who volunteered at the soup kitchen 1 time and thinks he gets to live there till he dies.. There is no entitlement in boinc crunching unless you are paid for the crunching you do and last time I looked you are not on my team for any project , although you crunch projects on the Gridcoin whitelist and could get paid for boinc crunching just like I do. That is like doing something nice , and bitching that nobody gives you recognition.

The most immature post yet. Getting paid makes you the least entitled, not the most. Without volunteers there would be no BOINC. The admins need us, we can always leave. Probably something you should do.
