Message 1474 - Posted: 13 Feb 2017, 11:07:24 UTC

In next 2-3 weekes I will be checking again possibility of turning on CPU apps on my server. I just now want to sorry for any inconvenience about it <- on some host NCI app could block CPU slot itp

I really need to start CPU apps against creating more NCI monkeys app.

For clarity...

In next 2-3 weekes I will be checking again possibility of turning on CPU apps on my server.

I really need to start CPU apps against creating more NCI monkeys app.

Will this mean CPU and NCI together?

I just now want to sorry for any inconvenience about it <- on some host NCI app could block CPU slot itp

Would this mean "you can pick both, but one type might block the other"?

The issue JLDun is that currently some users are noticing the NCI reserving a full CPU core while not fully using it. Thus preventing other work units or processes from utilizing the resources. It is a "bug".

Ah. Haven't caught that behavior yet, but I don't have a Task Manager I can use yet to dig that deep on my hosts. (Android)

That problem was on windows hosts.
Android looks good.

ok, I change

<non_cpu_intensive>1</non_cpu_intensive>

to
<non_cpu_intensive>0</non_cpu_intensive>

so whole project is NOT non cpu now, but 3 of 4 apps are set as NCI.

On windows 32/64, debian 32/64 and odroid-xu4 evrythink works fine.
But.. on windows 64bits manager don't show in "Status" that's monkeys are NCI but apps work as NCI and don't block CPU slot.

Linux hosts

How can i get nci units only ?

In your profile you can edit preferences and set up to use only selected apps.

But monkeys v4 and v4a will be NCI <- so don't change your setting now

Because there is no need for it right now.
I am still testing that possibility, but after set up my project to be CPU with NCI apps, my apps behavior is creazy <- sometimes apps works as NCI, sometimes they blocking CPU slot

I don't understand why you suspend work?

I create some test app monkeys_v4a to test cpu app <- v4a is set up as beta/test app so if you do not check in your profile to crunch test app you won't get this app to work.

Don't kill all monkeys because one black sheep ;)

I do not allow testunits in my preferences but i got units that suspend my CPU work...

But i restart Goofyx on all machines and at the moment it runs fine.

This is a fun project to run as an NCI app but bumping other projects to use valuable CPU cores? I wonder how many will really want to do that?

A lot depends on how many cores its going to eat up. If it sends out multiple units at once like most projects do and uses every core then you're right but if it just sends out one at a time then I could probably live with that.

I agree with you <- and I wrote about it many times.

Why CPU?
1. Maybe someone would like to use it
2. I have some Odroid XU4 and I am planning to use it on GoofyxGrid <- I would like to build at the beginning 100 core "cluster" with Odroid-XU4. At this moment I am have 32 core.

can we get something to test?
we still only gets a stir every time when you try to run the tests :o)

PS something = WU for Win & Linux on x86
